Where sky and earth meet.

Inspired by the Māori creation story of Ranginui, the Sky Father, and Papatūānuku, the Earth Mother, this dramatic artwork celebrates the connection between sky, earth and the natural world.

Ranginui emerges from a celestial night sky filled with stars and clouds, while Papatūānuku becomes part of the landscape below — surrounded by mountains, forests, waterfalls and ocean.

At the heart of the artwork, their noses gently meet, symbolising their enduring connection.

Rich blues, warm golden light and lush New Zealand-inspired landscapes make this a striking statement piece for any room.

The Story

In Māori tradition, Ranginui and Papatūānuku were once locked together in a close embrace, with their children living in darkness between them.

Their children eventually sought to separate their parents so that light could enter the world. Tāne pushed Ranginui upward to become the sky while Papatūānuku remained below as the earth.

Separated, yet forever connected, they became the sky above and the earth beneath.
